In the brand new console Starter Pack, the player gets three Skylanders ( Tree Rex, Jet-Vac, and a Series 2 Cynder), a Portal of Power, Trading Cards, a Poster, and the game itself. The theme music from the previous game was again provided by Academy Award Winning film composer Hans Zimmer, whilst a new orchestral score was produced by the returning composer, Lorne Balfe. Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow returned to help write the story. However, Frightbeard found a way out and is on his way back to free his crew and wreck havoc on all of Skylands. 10,000 years ago, the Arkeyans locked away Captain Frightbeard and his crew in the chest, with his sword acting as a lock. The Portal Master, along with Flynn, Hugo, and others along the way, race Captain Frightbeard, the villain of the 3DS version, to the Chest of Exile. With a new threat looming, they are summoned back to join forces with the Skylanders. Only characters with the correct bottom half can enter said areas, including: Rocket, Spin, Dig, Stealth, Telransation, Bounce, Speed and Climb.Thousands of years ago, the Giants fought battles in Skylands but were banished to Earth. These different movement types are necessary to enter certain side areas in the game called “Swap Zone Challenges”. Another new feature of the swappable characters is that each has one of eight distinct ways of moving. This allows for a total of 256 combinations between all tops and bottoms. Players also meet up to sixteen new characters who have top and bottom halves that can be separated from each other and recombined with the halves from other characters. The older portals from the past two games would not be able to sense the top half of these new swappable characters. With new Portal has been added thanks to a new technology that makes the characters in “Swap Force” work correctly. The game also brings a new Portal of Power. Also in this new version, Skylanders are able to jump, and there are new swappable Skylanders.
In the game, the player uses a portal to bring real-life action figures to the game. The gameplay of “Swap Force” is based on the previous two games, “Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure” and “Skylanders: Giants”. This is the third major release in the “Skylanders” franchise. “Skylanders SWAP Force” is a platformer game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision.
